First birthdays are so much for family and friends. A big part of the party is often the child's birthday cake. There are many ideas that you can use to create a really fun and unique first birthday cake for your big one-year-old.
Obviously, the theme and color scheme for your cake will probably be based on whether the child is a boy or a girl. Themes like Winnie the Pooh are very popular for both sexes. You can purchase small figurines to place on your cake to help bring that theme to life. Other popular ideas are based on the television shows that kids are watching today. Examples include:
Other popular ideas include Noah's Ark, clowns, and cars. For a Noah's Ark cake, you can create something similar to one that is currently available at grocery stores and bakeries. Buy a little people's Noah's Ark set. Then make a cake and place this on top with the animals and Noah. Or if you want, you could create a second cake and cut it out in an Ark-like shape before icing it. Use the set that you purchased as a model. Then add the animals and Noah in at the end.
Princess parties are huge for little girls and you could use progressively smaller round cakes to create a tiered cake. Use pink icing to make frills and buy a costume tiara for the top. A perfect cake for a princess.
Don't forget to create a small cake just for your one year old that they can then fully enjoy on their own. Just make sure to have cameras and washcloths ready. We just put our baby in the bath at the end - what a mess! But she had a great time!
